How to Download Free PSP Demos |
The PSP is a rather lovely machine, is it not? The ability to watch movies, play games, and modify it nearly all you want, as well as a bunch more, all packed into one little hand-held. Still, the rest of that is for another time as now we are going to focus on gaming! Why else would you get a PSP, eh? I mean, quite obviously the other features are nice but, the games form the *core* of the PSP. Without gaming it would be a hollow thing to buy, no?
Moving onto my main point, (gaming- if you did not notice,) you must admit it has a rather nice group of games, especially with the more recent releases. Despite how great some of these may be, not all games are exactly perfect for every person. This is where demos come in; the existence of a lovely *trial* allowing us to tell whether it is worth it or not. I expect quite a few people have saved themselves quite a lot of money with these handy things, and I am going to tell you how to do the same on your PSP.
As our main example website we will be using The Unofficial PSP Demo Center - pspdemocenter.com. (Additional sites with free demos include atraclife.com and pspfanboy.com.) Entering the PSP Demo Center website we'll see a handy link-bar at the top, which also just so happens to use buttons resembling what you would see on your PSP interface, nice. Click on over to the game section, the controller image, and browse the available PSP game demos. As I said earlier, these are all free, none of that subscribing nonsense either.
Depending on what languages you speak you will want to make sure the game you are downloading is readable. There are little flags to the right of the game names. Since I speak English, I click on the little American flag on the right side across from whatever game I decide to get. The game demos, as you will see, are not available in all languages.
When you have finished downloading the demo move it into a suitable folder for safe-keeping, if needed, otherwise you can go ahead and extract it. Extracting the file can be handled by Winzip quite easily as well as a variety of other programs such as WinRAR and the like. (There are handy instructions if you need help which you can access by clicking the link at the top of the list.) You should see it create a sub-folder once extracted; this holds the demo.
Okay, almost done now. Using your USB cable, connect your PSP to whatever PC the demo is on. (Generally, your computer should have a USB slot either on the front or back to allow this connection. If needed, fetch help from either the net or a nearby computer nerd.)
Open the My-Computer window and wait a bit for your PC to register the PSP connection. When it does you can open the newly apparent removable drive as it is called. Finally drag the folder you received earlier from extracting that game demo onto your PSP into the folder titled "Games." Wait a bit for it to complete the transfer and then disconnect the PSP.
That should do it. Now, run the PSP and scroll over on the home screen to game, then down to memory stick then run your game demo. Enjoy.
